After returning to the United States, he completed undergraduate studies at Morehouse College and went on to receive his medical degree from Duke University, followed by an intensive neurosurgery residency at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he stayed on as faculty, serving as the chairman of the department for many years.
Having also practiced in Alaska, Dr. Bernard brings a global perspective and top-tier surgical expertise to the complex world of spine and nerve disorders.
